About Me
Hello! My name is Rodrigo, I'll be your Monteverde Tour Guide. Having grown up in many different parts of Costa Rica, I worked for nearly two decades on research projects with biologists in the Monteverde cloud forest, especially on the plants that make up this iconic forest. For the last 20 years I have been applying this knowledge of the forest to show Monteverde visitors the flora and fauna of this place.

Reviews
"We showed up a the Monteverde Cloud Reserve in the late afternoon and our guide Rodrigo Solano, who returned to the reserve after going home for the evening so that we could have a guided tour, was amazing. He grew up in the area and you could tell by his knowledge of the reserve's history and the animal and plant life there. He also spent many years climbing trees in the forest with biologists to study canopy ecology. He was incredible at spotting many different types of birds, in a way that only a local who spent many years in the forest could. He even was able to woo a quetzal to where we good see it by mimicking its bird call. In addition, to all the birds we saw, Rodrigo's knowledge of the forest's plant life helped us to better understand the cloud forest. When we first got to the reserve, we didn't know if we needed a guide. Afterwards, we realized we would not have seen almost any of the birds and would have had no context for any of the plant life that we saw. I would definitely recommend going with a guide and if you do, Rodgrigo would be a good choice."

birds, bugs and monkeys - oh, my! the best guide (Rodrigo Solano)
"This was one of the highlights of the trip, by far. We saw the most diverse plantlife and wildlife. There is very little point of going without a guide. The cloudforest is beautiful and you can spot many interesting flowers and plants, but you really need someone to point out the snakes, frogs, birds, bugs and best of all monkeys! Rodrigo (Solano) pointed out the most obscure things. Some of them he'd show us on his telescope, but even afterwards I couldn't spot them with my naked eye. I say that he's the best, because he seemed to spot things that other guides didn't. At first I thought he was very quiet, but he's just focused on spotting the forest's treasure - and he delivers. He's extremely knowledgeable and shares what he knows. He's very personable. Anyone who goes to the reserve should hire him as a guide."
